Karlsruhe Marktplatz

DESCRIPTION

The Marktplatz is the central square in the center of Karlsruhe. It lies at the intersection of the central axis of the fan-shaped urban plan, extending south from the castle, with the main shopping street, Kaiserstrasse. The dominant buildings of the square are the municipal church and, in front of it, the town hall, like the entire square, with a classicist design by Friedrich Weinbrenner. In the square is the Karlsruhe Pyramid. It is the symbol of the city and the tomb of the city’s founder, Margrave Karl Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach.<
